Low-iron glass is a type of high-quality glass that is made by removing impurities and iron from clear float glass. This process creates a glass that is crystal-clear and transparent, with over 91% light transmittance. It is also known as ultra-clear glass or “crystal prince” due to its elegant appearance.
To produce low-iron glass, equipment from well-known companies such as Bottero and Isra Vision is used. The glass contains fewer impurities and has a lower self-explosion rate after tempering. Because of its stability, it is commonly used in high-end building structures like airport terminals, glass curtain walls, and glass walkways. Its transparency also makes it an excellent substrate material for art glass carving, lighting fixtures, home appliance panels, and more.
Compared to clear float glass, low-iron glass has better optical performance, particularly in its higher visible light transmittance that improves solar thermal transmittance. This glass can be used for deep processing to make mirrors, showcases, screens, picture frames, furniture, table tops, while maintaining the original color of inside items.
